RAPID CITY SD - WHAT MAKES OUR CITY SO GREAT
Rapid City SD is the city we call home and the city we love for a number of reasons. It is a great place to start a family and put down roots, as the environment is safe and the people are friendly.
Some of the best parts of our city are its natural attractions and the natural landscape itself, as it is wonderfully unique. Rapid City is located at the foot of the Black Hills mountain range, and it is actually known as the "Gateway to the Black Hills." From many areas in the city, you can enjoy the view of these mountains.
When it comes to beautiful views, one of our favorite ones is without a doubt the legendary Badlands National Park sunrise view. This national park is one of our many natural gems and every time we go, there is something new to see that we didn't see before. This doesn't come as a surprise because it stretches over 244,000 acres! When visiting during sunset or sunrise, the experience and the views are truly one of a kind.
Another place we like to visit to relax and breathe in the scenery is the Skyline Drive. It is actually a two-mile-long road that climbs up, with its ridge at the very center of Rapid City. You can take a drive here or enjoy a nice hike, and all the way to the top enjoy the view of the entire city, which extends 100 miles in each direction.
After enjoying the views from the Skyline Drive, you can stop at the nearby Fort Hays Chuckwagon Supper & Show for breakfast in this Wild West-themed restaurant. If you're heading straight back to town, then don't miss out on mouthwatering handcrafted pizza at Piesano's Pacchia.
Once your batteries are recharged, get ready for a stroll down history lane because nature isn't all that we have to offer. The Journey Museum and Learning Center will take you on an interesting historical journey, while in the so-called City of Presidents, you can walk among the life-size bronze statues of all our former U.S. presidents.
After a day full of activities, have a cup of coffee at the quirky Pure Bean Coffeehouse or treat yourself to a hot cookie at Mary's Mountain Cookies.
